What You'll Need

1Tape measure
2Pen & paper (or your phone)
3A flat surface to work on

About Your Order

Your sling fabric is custom-cut to your exact measurements. The spline cord included with your order arrives as one continuous piece that you will need to cut to the length of your channels.

Step-by-Step Guide

1

Remove the Old Sling

Carefully remove the existing sling fabric from your chair frame. Pull the fabric out of the channel on both sides. Discard the old sling — measurements should always be taken from the frame, not old fabric.

Tip: Take a photo of how the old sling attaches before removing it.
2

Measure the Top Width (Back of Chair)

With the old sling removed, measure the distance from the center of the left rail to the center of the right rail at the top (back) of the chair. This is your "Top Width."

Tip: Measure in inches to the nearest 1/8th inch for the best fit. Always measure center of rail to center of rail.

3

Measure the Bottom Width (Front of Chair)

Measure the distance from the center of the left rail to the center of the right rail at the bottom (front) of the chair. This is your "Bottom Width." On many chairs, the front is wider than the back, creating a trapezoidal sling shape.

Tip: If top and bottom widths are the same, your sling is rectangular — that's fine!

4

Measure the Length

Measure from the top of the top rail to the bottom of the bottom rail. This is your sling length. Measure along the frame rail, not across the open space.

Tip: For two-piece slings, measure the seat and back pieces separately.

Measuring Two-Piece Slings

If your chair has a separate seat and back piece (with a cross bar in between), you need to measure each piece independently.

Seat Piece

Measure from the bottom rail (front of chair) to the cross bar that separates the seat from the back. Measure the width at both the front and back of the seat section — center of rail to center of rail.

Back Piece

Measure from the cross bar to the top rail (back of chair). Measure the width at both the top and bottom of the back section — center of rail to center of rail.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Measuring the old fabric instead of the frame — fabric stretches over time and won't give accurate measurements.

Forgetting that top and bottom widths can be different — always measure both.

Measuring the outside or inside edge of the rails instead of the center — always measure center of rail to center of rail.

Not measuring two-piece slings as separate seat and back pieces.
